Building the Power of Carnival, a sector-led research and development project shaped with and by London’s Carnival Sector, now has its Steering Group.
Following an extensive open call, members were selected by an independent panel of non-London based carnival professionals, based on their demonstrated strategic insight, depth of sector knowledge, and clear commitment to working impartially for the benefit of the wider Carnival ecosystem in London. The Steering Group brings together practitioners who will provide strategic direction to ensure the project is grounded in lived experience, inclusive in its approach, and responsive to the full breadth of voices across London. Members have committed to representing the interests of the London sector as a whole, setting aside individual organisational priorities, and will actively support the project’s engagement with communities beyond the group itself. The Steering Group will invite additional contributors into their meetings where specific expertise is required to ensure the relevant perspectives are meaningfully represented. The Steering Group is to support the appointment of a Carnival Specialist to undertake the delivery of the project.
