I've had the chance to connect with a range of members since I started my role as the Director of OAUK in mid February. It was very engaging to hear them talking so passionately about their ambitions for the year ahead and how OAUK could support them. I acknowledge though, that there is a significant level of concern about the future, too.

OAUK have now created a member's survey to continue this process of gathering your views. You can access the survey here until 10th May. We would like to know how the organisation can build on our work so far to support the sector even more for the road ahead. I'm conscious that I've taken up my post at a time of prolonged disruptions, and I'm keen to make sure OAUK is fit-for-purpose. The survey will ask your views on our existing offer, but it will also be forward-looking. It's designed to be a temperature test for your perceptions of what the future looks like.
We would really like to have as many members return this survey as possible, as getting a broad range of opinions will help us sharpen our thinking.
I've also been reading the British Academy's recent report: Crisis Preparedness in the Live Performing Arts: Recommendations for the UK. The main focus of the report is to encourage UK and regional governments, arts councils and development agencies like OAUK to work together to build resilience in the performing arts. I feel that OAUK could look into some of the recommendations raised on pages 19-23 as a way of becoming even more future-focused and strategic.
If you had any thoughts on the issues raised in the report, please do let me know. You can contacting me by email (sho@outdoorartsuk.org), or book a 121 with me for a quick chat.
