Milton Keynes | Until 25 Feb | Land of Lights South takes place in Milton Keynes, with 12 incredible worlds inspired by legendary fairy tales and iconic characters. From Peter Pan to Gulliver’s Travels, light up your imagination this winter with spectacular lantern displays.

Warrington | Until 25 Feb | Land of Lights Warrington will be lighting up the Cheshire sky with giant adventures and giant Lanterns – see Gulliver’s World Resort in a whole new light! Explore 12 Dreamworlds inspired by animal kingdoms, mega monuments and seasonal celebrations, bursting with colour, energy and illumination.

London | 17-20 Jan | The Glowbot Garden is a spectacular, promenade experience by Air Giants featuring a series of huge interactive creatures which will take over the Strand Aldwych pedestrianised area in central London. Highlights in the garden will include Luma – the 9 metre-long, flexing, contorting snail and Unfurl – a dreamscape of 17 plants including giant interactive vines, arches and ferns. The largest of the robots tower over 5 meters high.

Canary Wharf | 17-27 Jan | Canary Wharf’s Winter Lights Festival will return to London this January, bringing an enchanting trail of nineteen illuminated installations to the Wharf. Visitors are invited to explore Canary Wharf like never before as the festival includes five pieces not previously displayed in the UK and five brand new commissions. Artists include EEA, Squidsoup, This Is Loop, Those Guys Lighting, Juan Fuentes, Vendel & De Wolf, Simon Chevalier, Gertjan Adema, Limbic Cinema, Frankie Boyle, Daniel Popescu, Juan Fuentes and Marcus Lyall.

Great Yarmouth | 18-21 Jan | Glow Your Own Way is a festival of light and projection which invites members of the community to join a procession with light projection bikes, lights installations and lots more fun activities. Freshly Greated is happy to cast light at the darkest time of the year with exciting events to promote connection and community spirit in the Great Yarmouth area.

New Zealand | 19-28 Jan | Bread & Circus World Buskers Festival has a program that blends home-grown talent, festival favourites, and fresh faces from far-flung locations. The 2024 line-up will again see comedians, musicians, dancers, acrobats, trapeze artists, magicians and more taking to the streets and stage. Watch out for UK artists Architects of Air and Sam Goodburn.

Castle Hill | 20 Jan | The Magical Winter Festival is a free winter festival of magical light installations, and spectacular street and musical performances in Platinum Jubilee Park, organised by Cohesion Plus.

Winchester | 21 Jan | It’s back! Hat Fair Cabaret returns to the stage at The Royal Winchester! Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for a night of comedy cabaret surprises. Expect the unexpected with international artists, circus tricksters, magnificent magicians, live music and crazy comedy. A unique one night extravaganza from masters of mayhem and laughter . Battersea | 25 Jan-25 Feb | Battersea Power Station’s annual Light Festival is returning brighter and more interactive than ever before to illuminate the winter nights. See installations from Squidsoup, Masamichi Shimada, Angela Chong, Venividimultiplex, Mad Rhizome, Arion de Munck & Mark Ridder and Freerk Wilbers.

Gravesend | 26-27 Jan | Gravesham Light Festival ‘Reflections’ will brighten up our streets and buildings in the dark days of winter with a festival to warm your heart and your senses. There will be installations, workshops, performances, music and encounters throughout the town in the shadows and on the shore.

Compton Verney | 26 Jan-18 Feb | Spectacle of Light is a beautiful after-dark experience for all the family! Discover this beautiful new illuminated trail around the spectacular grounds of Compton Verney. Explore the wondrous woodland before crossing the bridge onto the grand lawns of this great park.

Bexhill | 27 Jan | Bexhill After Dark is produced by 18 Hours, who work with many local, national and international artists to put together an illuminated show in the heart of Bexhill. When the sun sets, the streets light up with multicoloured marvels and exceptionally made sculptures which are animated as they move, lighting up the darkness. Shows from The Show Globe, Circo Rum Ba Ba, The Dream Engine, Kitsch & Sync, Dolly Delicious, An Act Above, UK African Acrobats, Xena Flame and more!
