Weekly Drop-In: Season for Change + We Shall Not Be Removed back to listing
This week’s (Fri 10 Jul) OAUK Weekly Online Drop-In session will focus on two important topics and how they affect our sector. This meeting will be captioned by MyClearText.
Season for Change
Firstly we will hear from Salome Wagaine, Programme Manager of Season for Change, a nationwide programme of artistic and cultural events that celebrate the environment and inspire urgent climate action. She will also talk about Common Ground, a programme of four £10,000 commissions for artists, makers or creators, and a professional development programme focused on cultural climate leadership.
We Shall Not Be Removed
Secondly, we will learn more about We Shall Not Be Removed, which began with an open letter from over 100 leading disabled artists and cultural leaders to The Secretary of State for Culture, Oliver Dowden MP, and devolved UK Culture Ministers, demanding safeguards to protect the future of disability arts in the UK as a consequence of Covid19.
Jo Verrent, Senior Producer of UK commissions programme Unlimited and Tim Wheeler, a performance maker, arts consultant and senior lecturer. He is co-founder and former AD of Mind the Gap. Tim is currently working on an impact study of Disability Arts worldwide for the British Council.
If you’d like to attend the Drop-In, please be sure that you are signed up to the OAUK General Mailing list, as we send the link out via our newsletter on Friday morning (but don’t share it online – we’ve been burned before!)
