Wild Rumpus

Where arts and culture meet the natural environment

Wild Rumpus CIC is a social enterprise producing large scale outdoor arts events, most often in wild natural landscapes. We believe that when audiences engage together in the highest quality arts in the great outdoors, something quite amazing can happen.

Working from the Whirligig Woods and Ashbank Farm in Cheshire, we create experiences which inspire curiosity and design events that immerse audiences in incredible stories and moments of wonder. We believe that arts and culture have a unique role to play in helping people to gain new perspectives on the existential threat posed to civilisation by the loss of biodiversity on a level never witnessed before.

We produce extraordinary worlds, taking audiences out of their day to day lives into magical and enchanting places which can inspire and have a lasting impact. Our ambitious outdoor arts events include Timber Festival, Hinterlands Film Festival and Just So Festival.

Wild Rumpus also run an extensive volunteer and talent development programme working with performers, producers and programmers to shape a cultural environment where excellent outdoor work thrives. The Whirligig is also home to a creation centre, for makers to collaborate and develop their practice.
