Producer & Inclusion Advocate

Kate McStraw is an independent Creative Producer, predominately working within the accessible arts sector. She advocates for inclusive cultures, working for diverse-led companies and artists including Anna Berry, Extraordinary Bodies, Diverse City and Viv Gordon. Kate is Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Viv Gordon Company; working as arts activists to change the social and cultural narrative for survivors of child sexual abuse, which is increasingly becoming her priority. She is also developing her artistic practice as a writer/creator of a political new musical Off the Scales set in weight loss groups.
Kate works across artforms and scales, drawn to the people and purpose of a project as her lead artistic driver. Outdoor arts credits include: Producer of kinetic sculpture Breathing Room by Anna Berry (an Unlimited commission); Producer of Beneath Our Feet a dance in caves project Made by Katie Green; part of the producing team on Inside Out Dorset Festivals 2014-2019; Producer & founding member of Butterfly Theatre Company touring to unusual spaces including caves & castles across UK and Europe; Costume Manager for Breathe (community ensemble, part of 2012 Olympic opening celebrations in Weymouth). With Viv Gordon Company she is producing their first outdoor piece Restless which is in R&D stage funded by Arts Council England and supported by 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space.
