Artizani is a dedicated, full time professional street arts organization established in 1989 by Artistic Director James Macpherson and based in the High Peak region of North West England.
The company specializes in creating medium and small scale street arts performances with high production values and a surreal twist.
Artizani delivers over 300 performances of its various shows a year to audiences in excess of 150,000 and employs up to 20 freelancers. We have received substantial ACE funding for our last three major shows: Revolution, Desert Island Discs and The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, the latter having been a Lakes Alive commission.
Back in the day we started off as a touring circus show and over the years the company style has matured into a unique combination of the theatrical, visual and spectacular. Along the way we have been influenced by collaborations with a variety of partners, significantly through international touring with Avanti Display, the directorial input of Emil Wolk of the People Show and recently the inflatable sculptures of Designs in Air.
Artizani has a long history of work in Education, with permanent lecturing posts since 1991 and experience from Primary to Tertiary. The training of a new generation of artists is particularly close to the company’s heart.
Today the Company is busier than ever, taking on new commissions and working on new projects. We are still in love with the art form as a popular and fully accessible way of reaching the widest possible audience and offering a memorable and transformative experience.
