Bureau Of Silly Ideas

Making sensible use of silly since 2002!

The Bureau Of Silly Ideas (BOSI) has been putting inspired madness and controlled chaos into public spaces for nearly 20 years. Using art, entertainment, humour and surprise we’ve honed our unique ability to transform the everyday and create magical interventions that bring silliness to the mundane.

We’ve got a complete fleet of mad-hat machines and eccentric interactions, most loved are our Street Furniture Menagerie, closely followed by our Pedal Powered Pineapple Car and Michael Foot (who regularly shows up on Have I Got News For You). Shirt or Squirt and Secret Squirtersuse gameplay and water to make art the best vehicle for rivalry and revenge.

BOSI was born out of seeing the everyday as an opportunity to play, through The Hole Job and The High Job we turned construction sites into circuses and made acrobats civil engineers. This kickstarted the super fictions; large scale theatrical installations and performances, with narratives that make you look. We’ve run national campaigns to get Custard Pie Throwingrecognised as an Olympic sport, to bottle and sell success (Sweet Smell of Success) and made a giant squid farm in Brighton (Burst Pipe Dream). Currently, we’re touring with the United Nations Board Of Significant Inspiration our team of scientists and researchers are working with communities giving them the power and ability to harness latent inspiration and keep it in their pocket for a lightbulb moment.
