Middlesborough Mela back to all events

Join us for the 29th anniversary of the Middlesbrough Mela. Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘gathering’ or ‘to meet’ or a ‘fair.
This is a spectacular multi-cultural celebration also known as BoroMela!
Middlesbrough Mela is a free multi-cultural festival of regional significance which reflects the aspirations and needs of the communities within Middlesbrough, the wider Tees Valley area and beyond, reaching audiences of 50,000 over the two day festival.
Now in it’s 29 year, the event aims to bring communities together to celebrate and promote the diverse cultures within the region. The festival plays host to a high quality programme of events, including a vibrant celebration of world class music covering a rich mix of hip hop, Bhangra and traditional Asian sounds, the Global Arts Village, food court, Bazaar, street theatre and family fun entertainment.
The two day festival will take place on the 17-18 August in Albert Park, Middlesbrough.
