Walk the Plank Manchester Day Masterclasses back to listing
Registration is now open for a further programme of FREE masterclasses brought to you by Walk the Plank in the 2015-2016 season of ELEVATE, giving both artists and community leaders the opportunity to gain inspiration and skills from internationally renowned musicians, designers and participatory artists.
ELEVATE is designed to support artists and community groups participating in Manchester Day, one of the largest community outdoor arts events in the North West, bringing colour, dance, music and spectacle to the streets of Manchester in a celebration of all things Mancunian. The next Manchester Day will take place on the 19 June 2016.
All masterclasses are free, but places are limited so please sign up. If you have any queries please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The February/March Masterclass series will be held at Friends Meeting House in the centre of Manchester.
An Introduction to the Work of Artist Tanya Raabe and Venture Arts
23 Feb, 6.30pm – 9pm, Friends Meeting House
Tanya Raabe and Amanda Sutton from Venture Arts share examples of their groundbreaking work in the disability arts sector. Tanya Raabe is a leading practitioner in the field and has been devising visual art exploring and challenging identity, a disabled self in contemporary art since 1987. Venture Arts provide a positive space for learning disabled people to make great art and play a valued role in the region’s vibrant and diverse culture.
Making Music on the Move with Street Band Mr Wilson’s Second Liners

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be in a street band? Will Lenton, along with the rest of Mr Wilson’s 2nd Liners will be sharing their street band skills in a special one-off masterclass.
Gigantes and the Chester Midsummer Watch

Artist Russell Kirk, the creator of Gigantes for The Midsummer Watch will share his personal creative journey & discuss techniques involved in the creation of Gigantes. During the masterclass Russell will show a collection of his existing works and explain his creative process…
Narrative through Design
3 March 2016, 6.30 – 9pm, Friends Meeting House
A unique opportunity to consider the creative process with internationally renowned theatre designer Michael Pavelka. Michael Pavelka is a founder member of Propeller Theatre Company and has created work for opera, dance, Drama and site specific outdoor production. He is an award winning artist working at the highest levels of performance in the UK and on the international stage.
