GDIF HUB 2018

Welcome to the GDIF Festival HUB

The HUB is a meeting point for everybody with a professional interest in the Outdoor Arts sector; artists, producers, programmers, practitioners and everyone else is welcome.

Presented by GDIF in association with Outdoor Arts UK (the organisation formally known as ISAN!), we’re offering a busy events programme, somewhere to relax and chill out and a space to meet and make new professional connections.

Registered HUB delegates will have the chance to see Preview Platforms of new work, join for reflections and discussion over breakfast, attend recordings of the Outdoor Arts Archive Vault, take part in Nuts and Bolts sessions and book one-to-one funding and governance surgeries.

Free tea and coffee will be available throughout the day if you need somewhere to escape to, and you can replenish water bottles in the main hall.

The HUB Bar: in the evenings the HUB hall becomes the festival bar to meet up and mingle after the shows. Competitive prices too. And monster munch.

Outdoor Arts Archive Vault: each day we have invited two women from the sector to reflect on their Outdoor Arts experiences as part of a digital archive project. There are limited places to attend the recordings, which are chaired by the journalists Fiona Hughes and Liz Hoggard.

Nuts and Bolts are led by various sector practitioners and include opportunities to talk about various pressing issues for the sector, as well as the one-to-one sessions on funding and governance issues.

Outdoor Arts Info Corner: there’s an area in the main hall for artists and producers to advertise their shows and festivals, and there are a couple of informal quick pitching sessions – anyone’s welcome to pitch: artists and festivals and producers.

Sign-ups: some offsite events are pre-registered, such as the Thamesmead symposium / Fly by Night visit and the GDIF Opening Reception. Several HUB events have online sign-ups; for the various 1-2-1s, you’ll need to sign up in person at the HUB. Check with the reception desk for availability.

Guided excursions (via public transport) leave from the HUB when the festival moves to Greenwich Peninsula, Royal Docks and Woolwich and take a walking tour of Greenwich if it’s your first time at GDIF.

Check the GDIF Festival Brochure alongside this programme to make sure you’re in the right place at the right time and have the opportunity to enjoy as much of GDIF as possible.

Have fun!

Thanks to all the participants for taking time to be part of the HUB programme and to the GDIF Volunteers for looking after us. This is our first time running the HUB, so it’s all a bit of an experiment; we’ll be keeping a careful eye on what works and what doesn’t and we’ll be welcoming feedback on what could be better in the future. Many thanks.
