ISAN announces new Executive Director, Angus MacKechnie back to listing
The Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Angus MacKechnie has been appointed as ISAN’s new Executive Director. Currently the Producer and Programmer of the National Theatre’s Watch This Space Festival and Platforms series, Angus brings with him the necessary experience, knowledge, vision and dynamism to lead ISAN in an exciting new phase of development.
Angus will take up duties officially at the end of July, but will continue to engage with ISAN and work closely with Interim Director, Bettina Linstrum, during this transition period. Chair of ISAN, Robin Morley, said: We are delighted to have appointed Angus MacKechnie as ISAN’s Executive Director. Angus comes to ISAN from the National Theatre, where he was the Producer of its influential outdoor arts festival Watch This Space. He brings an excellent understanding of the impact and diversity of outdoor arts practice across the regions that will benefit both the ISAN membership & the wider sector. We look forward to his leading the organisation and its members to continue to develop the work of outdoor arts practitioners and to advocate for a sector that has a proven ability to take great art to wide audiences.
Angus said of his upcoming transition: As many of you who know me will appreciate, it was always going to take a lot to tempt me away from the National Theatre – somewhere I have called home for over thirty years (!) – but the opportunity of taking on a leadership role within a sector that I love with all my heart was just too exciting to miss. I’ve been lucky enough to have been supported by the National over the past year as a Fellow on the Clore Leadership Programme, and this is a great chance to put into practice so much that I have learned from many brilliant people. It’s time for the organisation [ISAN] to build and grow and help give outdoor arts the profile and recognition it truly deserves.
Angus is looking forward to meeting all of our partners and members as he settles into this new position. We hope you will join us in welcoming him to post.
